Welcome to Michael Dods Racing

Michael Dods, based at Denton Hall near Piercebridge in Co Durham, has held a trainer's licence since 1990 when taking over the reins on the death of his father Dickie. He combines training with running a 540 acre farm and this has a direct benefit on the horses in his care as the feed is supplemented with best quality home grown haylage. The last two years have seen Michael become one of the North's leading flat trainers. In 2006 he sent out his best ever tally of 45 winners from 333 runners with a further 116 horses making the frame. Therefore almost half of the Denton Hall runners finished in the first four places netting almost £300,000 in prize money. Last year he again enjoyed considerable success with 39 winners and 118 places for almost £250,000 in prize money.

As a result of the successes during the last two years he has increased the capacity of the yard to 60 boxes and upgraded the facilities at Denton Hall. These include a second 6 furlong all weather sand gallop and a 7 furlong grass gallop. Michael's philosophy is very straightforward - he does not like to run horses in races were he does not think they have a chance of winning. He is also a great believer in being totally honest when dealing with his owners with regard to the ability of the horses in his care. There has never been a better time to join Michael and get involved in the 'Sport of Kings'. So if you are an existing owner looking for a new trainer or whether you are keen to take your first steps into racehorse ownership - maybe you would like to take a share in one of the Denton Hall Syndicate horses - then why not contact Michael today.
