Welcome to Michael Dods Racing
Racehorse trainer Michael Dods, based at Denton Hall near Piercebridge in Co Durham, has held a licence since 1990 when taking over the reins on the death of his father Dickie. He combines racehorse training with running a 540 acre farm and this has a direct benefit on the horses in his care as the feed is supplemented with best quality home grown haylage. The last three years has seen Michael become one of the North's leading flat racehorse trainers. In 2006 he sent 45 winners netting almost £300,000 in prize money. Last year he enjoyed his best ever season sending out 49 winners on the flat from 409 runners. In addition 134 runners also made the frame for total prize money of more than £330,000.
As a result of his recent success, he has increased the capacity of
the yard to 66 boxes and upgraded the facilities at Denton Hall.
These include a second 6 furlong all weather sand gallop and a 7
furlong grass gallop. Michael's philosophy is very straightforward -
he does not like to run horses in races were he does not think they
have a chance of winning. He is also a great believer in being
totally honest when dealing with his owners with regard to the
ability of the horses in his care. There has never been a better
time to join Michael and get involved in the 'Sport of Kings'. So
if you are an existing owner looking for a new racehorse trainer or
whether you are keen to take your first steps into racehorse
ownership - maybe you would like to take a share in one of the
Denton Hall Syndicate horses - then why not contact Michael today.
