Michael Dods Racing announces open day to mark National Racehorse Week

Michael Dods Racing is again supporting National Racehorse Week with an open day at Denton Hall stables in County Durham.

National Racehorse Week – between August 22 and 31 – is a national celebration of racing, giving members of the public a fascinating insight into the love, care and attention that racehorses receive.

Denton Hall’s open day this year takes place between 10.15am and 1pm on Monday, August 24.

As in previous years, there will be a chance for visitors to go up to the beautiful Denton gallops to see some of the horses exercising, as well as see others close up in their stables, or using equine equipment such as the spa, treadmill, and horse-walker.

The Dods family and friendly stable staff will be available to chat about their roles, and there are plans for a demonstration of the starting stalls and a farrier at work.

Trainer Michael Dods said: “We consider it really important to support National Racehorse Week because it’s a great way to showcase the sport of racing, and our open days have grown in popularity every year.

“Last year, we had around 600 visitors and we look forward to opening our doors again to those who want to see what life is like behind the scenes of a racing yard.”
