Michael Dods Racing supports National Racehorse Week with open day on September 11

Michael Dods Racing is staging another open day as part of National Racehorse Week.
The stunning Denton Hall Stables, between Darlington and Staindrop, will be open to visitors between 10am and 12.30pm on Monday September 11.
It’s a chance for racing fans to have a look behind the scenes and meet the team operating a Group One winning stable, with a visit to the gallops and a look round the stables.
Horses at Denton Hall include Group 2 winner Azure Blue, dual Stewards Cup hero and Group 3 winner Commanche Falls, veteran multiple winner Dakota Gold, and the gallant mare Gale Force Maya, who is in her final season before going to stud. Retired racehorse Barney McGrew, who writes his own blog about stable life, will also be there!
Visitors will see the modern equipment used at the yard, including the equine spa and treadmill. There will also be information on cost-effective ways to get involved in racehorse ownership, such as the Denton Hall Partnership syndicate, or the Dods Racing Club.
Michael said: “National Racehorse Week is an important celebration of our industry and an opportunity for the public to come and see the five-star care and attention racehorses receive every day of their lives. It’s important for stables to support the event and we are looking forward to welcoming visitors and giving them an insight into what’s involved in training racehorses.”
National Racehorse Week was launched in 2019 from an idea by trainer Richard Phillips, who wanted to create a single event to promote understanding of the sport, and it has gained momentum ever since.
This year, it takes place between September 9 and 17, with a host of yards opening their doors. In order for the stables to be able to plan for numbers, please register by going to www.nationalracehorseweek.uk. If you wish to come to the Denton Hall Open Day on September 11, search for Michael Dods in the 'Select Trainer' box and all the information you need will come up.
